i have just recently discovered a new favorite artist (flavor of the month, if you will). his name is Raúl Midón. blind since birth, this singer/song writer/musician is definetly someone to watch out for. his style is a mix of flamenco/jazz and soulful r&b. he is heavily influenced by stevie wonder, who btw makes an appearance on his cd. raul midon caught my attention by the title track 'state of mind', where hes got this mind boggling guitar riff happening. i just missed his live preformance at the el macombo, but i will definetly check him out the next time he is in town.

saturday night was the weezer/pixies concert, which was dope. im not a really big fan of both groups, but i had a good time. live music is always good. i had that 'berverly hills' song stuck in my head for a long time. but one other thing that i need to mention re: the concert was all the funny characters that were there. it was a mix of the wild frat boy party animals checking out weezer, and the slightly older rocker crowd checking out the pixies. there were people like the '50-something-shirtless-guy-dancing-drunkenly-in-the-aisle', and then theres the 'guy-that-looks-like-sammy-haggar" to teeny bopper girls drinking G&T's from their moms, and then apperently there was one other filipino guy in the audience! so my first experience at the Molson Amphitheatre was good...but my next trip to the Amphitheatre will be better!...BB and KWS!!!
